The only reason why it isn't priced at $400 or more is because a newer model is available. The sound quality is amazing, though.
Not to mention it is of Sony quality. I challenge you to go to Best Buy and find a complete system (including a receiver unit) for this price.

My only gripe: it's old enough that HDMI ports weren't standard when it came out, which means you either have to buy an adapter or go another route (i.e. I can't stress enough that this system is worth every cent.
But why buy it when this one is so great.
I did a lot of research on home theater systems to go with my new Panasonic 50" Plasma. But there sure is a BIG difference in price: Bose @ $2,200.Sony @ $200.00. I was concerned it might not have the big bass I demand but wasn't disappointed at all.If you are looking for big value and great sound this system is the one you should buy.
I'll get right to the point.this system delivers great surround sound despite it's low low price. I've had my Bose system for about 5 years and this new Sony system for about 2 months. We put the new TV in our game room and wanted a 5.1 surround system to complete the effect.
Sure you can put a lot more money out there for other systems but the question is why waste your money. I have a Bose Lifestyle system in my family room so I wasn't expecting big things from this Sony system under $200. While it doesn't have the power of the Bose system when cranked up, it provides great surround sound for one fifth the cost.
So far I can't really say there's a huge difference in the quality of sound between them. I'm happy with both systems.
Easy to set up, operate, remote took a little work to get familiar with,and sounds good for the price. The Sony HTDDWG700 worked out of the box unlike the Onkyo HT-S5100 7.1 I just just returned. If you have a job and don't want to quit to spend time WORKING on a home theater system, get the Sony.
If you want a feature packed surround sound receiver that will out-do all other out-of-the-box systems this one's a sleeper for the money. Sony hasn't missed anything in this one in fact it has more than I'll ever use in my set-up. Super value & I dare anyone to find better for less than six bills.
If you need to add a little juice to your sound, this is your answer. For 200.00 you will shake the house, hear sounds during gaming sessions you never heard before, and make your wife mad late at night. Great value.Cons:Remote has to point directly at the receiver. Small learning curve at navigating the menu.
